John Tobey Event Design (formerly Eventeur) is a highly-respected Denver-based event production company that has produced galas and events for luxury brands and large corporations such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Nordstrom, Exclusive Resorts, Cartier and Neiman Marcus; fundraisers for philanthropic organizations including Wish of a Lifetime, Freedom Service Dogs, The National Repertory Orchestra and the Denver Art Museum; and large-scale nationally-televised events including the production of several functions for one of the Democratic National Conventions. In conjunction with many of these events. Tobey has worked with a variety of celebrities including U2, Seal, Lionel Richie, Hall & Oates, Chris Isaac, Jessica Biel, Jon Bon Jovi as well as event trendsetters such as Colin Cowie, Oprah Winfrey among others.

John Tobey – Principal
John Tobey brings a unique energy to event planning. With more than 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, and a reputation for meticulously executing his creative visions, Tobey has cultivated an unparalleled expertise in memorable and extraordinary event production.
Before founding Eventeur, Tobey’s experience in the event industry was broad and varied. Tobey served as Director of Food and Beverage at the Country Club at Castle Pines in Colorado; and Event Designer at the renowned catering company, Epicurean Culinary Group. Tobey has also worked with the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company in Arizona and helped open the Four Seasons Hotel Denver. As a result, Tobey’s deep understanding of all elements involved in producing memorable experiences has made him an industry leader.
John Tobey Event Design has been affiliated with the International Society of Event Specialists, NACE, National Association of Catering Executives, ILEA, International Live Events Association and WIPA, Wedding International Professionals Association
As a responsible and committed citizen of Colorado, John has donated his time and talent to numerous philanthropic organizations including The Eating Disorder Foundation, The National Repertory Orchestra, Denver School of Science and Technology, Wish of a Lifetime, Freedom Service Dogs, Mount Saint Vincent Home, Arrupe Jesuit High School and the Denver Art Museum.
When you don’t find him behind the scenes at his events, you will find John on the slopes skiing, dining at the latest hip and groovy new restaurants and traveling the country in search of the newest food and beverage and event trends.
Shannon McLaughlin joyfully manages a landslide of details and deadlines to create smart events that will captivate and delight your attendees. She flourishes overseeing and supporting all event-related activities for multiple, simultaneous projects and has fun doing it.
While studying at the University of Colorado at Denver, Shannon worked in fine dining, honing customer service and management skills as well as learning how to tell a Bordeaux from a Barolo – and which one you want with your braised short ribs. After graduating, she worked as an assistant to the CEO of a corporate training company, moved the marketing world, opened then sold a multi-unit, boutique, locally sourced food market, and did a little catering sales…where she met John Tobey.
